MEET MRS. MCFERREN
ABOUT MRS. McFERREN
Hello and welcome to my 6th grade class! My name is Mrs. McFerren and I am the 6th grade teacher at VCS. My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (Grades K-8) from Ohio University and a Master's Degree in Reading Instruction from Muskingum University. I am also a Certified Intervention Specialist (Grades K-12). I enjoy teaching very much and I look forward to working with you this school year!

Pacing Guides are used in each class to help you stay up to date on your assignments.
It is important to stay on pace in all your classes. Assignments must be completed in the order they are listed. If you are unsure how to complete a specific assignment, please come to Blackboard so I can assist you!

Setting Up Your VCS E-mail
Instructions for setting up your VCS e-mail:
All VCS students are required to set up a VCS e-mail.
Use this link to access your e-mail: www.gmail.com.
Once you are logged in, you will be prompted to change your password.
If you are having trouble setting up your e-mail, contact the help desk.
Suggestion: Use the same password you use to sign in to Maestro so you will only need to remember one password! Please set up your e-mail right away!

Additional Class Information
1. All lessons must be completed in the order they appear. Do not skip lessons! If you need assistance with a lesson, you may attend Blackboard and I will help you (see schedule above). If you are unable to attend Blackboard, please contact me by phone or send me a message so I can assist you.
2. Blackboard: Daily Blackboard sessions are not mandatory; however, students will earn extra credit for each Blackboard/intervention attended. Class Blackboards are held Monday thru Thursday at the times listed above.
3. Browsers: Courses do not seem to work as well if you are using Google Chrome. For best results, use either Firefox or Internet Explorer.
4. Communication: To contact Mrs. McFerren, please call or e-mail me at the address/phone number listed above. If you would like to message me through the classroom, you must send the message through Maestro, before you launch your classes in Brainhoney. Although I receive the messages when they are sent through Brainhoney, I am unable to respond to them.
5. Retrys: You are permitted to retry an assignment you don't do well on. You will automatically receive at least one retry on assignments. In addition, every day in Blackboard you will have the opportunity to request resets for any assignments you would like to retry.
6. How to read teacher feedback: Go to "Grades" and click on your grade (75%,100%, etc...) to see feedback for that specific assessment.
